On Sunday, February 7, 2010 Shelby County will turn 192 years old, being named after Isaac Shelby. The first county seat was located in Shelbyville [now known as Pelham] and moved in 1826 to Columbia [now known as Columbiana]. The Shelby County Historical Society will host its next Quarterly Meeting on this date [February 7, 2010] beginning at 1:45 pm.with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The Greater Shelby County Chamber of Commerce and the South Shelby County Chamber of Commerce will sponsor the ribbon cutting ceremony.
