Event Description:
The Alabama Youth Ballet Company, along with a community cast, will present Stevan Grebel's The Nutcracker on December 19 and 20, 2009.  All seats are reserved.  Saturday's performance is at 7 PM and Sunday's is at 2:30 PM.  Guest artists will be Jon Caspian as the Cavalier, a dance major at Birmingham-Southern College; David Anderson as Drosselmeyer, former dancer with Nevada Dance Theatre, Ballet UAB, Colorado Ballet; and a surprise locally-known person as Mother Ginger.   Vivian Delchamps and Haley Ingrum will alternate as the Sugar Plum Fairy.

For the past 6 years, Stevan Grebel's choreography, set to the music of Tchaikovsky and E.T.A. Hoffman's story, has delighted the metro-south community with this engaging holiday traditiion.  The magic of Clara's dream, the battle of the Mouse King with the Nutcracker Prince and her travel through the Land of Snow to the Kingdom of the Sweets is protrayed with beautiful scenery and exquisite costumes.  This gumdrop-sized performance is a holiday treat for all ages.   There will also be a Nutcracker Ballet Boutique which will sell gift items, treats and ornaments, as momentos and stocking stuffers.  The Boutique is presented by the Alabama Youth Ballet Guild, a support group for the AYBC.  All donations are tax-deductibel, as allowed by law.

Tickets are on sale now at NUTCRACKER TICKETS, by phone, and in person at Grebel Ballet studios.
