Veterans Park on Valleydale

Veterans Park on Valleydale features 5K and 8K cross country courses, 4 beach vollyball courts, 2 pavilions, and 2 children's playgrounds with swingsets.

Veteran's Park is Hoover's newest and largest park. It features a professionally developed cross-country course and is host to the Great American Cross Country Race.This park was dedicated in 2007 to the memory of our Veterans. There is a large monument commemorating those who have served our country in each of the armed forces. A project is underway to recognize Veterans who have a connection to Hoover.

The park is maintained by the City of Hoover.

Shelby Humane Society Paws for the Cause
Paws for the Cause will be held at Veterans Park on Valleydale Road in Hoover on October 8 at 8:30am and is a certified 5k off-road cross-country race through the park around the lake and through tree-lined trails surrounding the park. Runners and walkers of all speeds and ages are welcome, as well as dogs on a leash.

The Fun Run &1 Mile Dog Walk allows children to explore the park and you to show off your dogs while they are getting some exercise too..

Early registration prior to September 15th will be $30 for the 5k, $20 for the 1 mile or $35 for both and includes a technical running shirt and chance to win a gift certificate from Pampered Pet Resort. After September 16th registration will be $35 for 5k, $25 for the 1 mile or $40 for both. For those that want to support and receive a t-shirt but not participate, a sleep-in option is available for $25. Registration can be done at runsignup.com.
