The City of Chelsea is located in north central Shelby County approximately 10 miles Southeast of Birmingham along the U.S. Hwy 280 corridor. The City of Chelsea was incorporated March 1, 1996 with an estimated population of 901.

Chelsea has extensive growth potential from scenic rolling wooded hills for continued residential development to the busy U.S. Hwy 280 corridor for vast commercial development potential. With a combination of excellent schools and a close knit community, the city's slogan states "It's All About Family."
